Carter’s seamless transition from swing, bop and avant-garde fascinates audiences and jazz aficionados alike and makes him one of the most sought after musicians on the international music scene. Mr. Carter has a star-studded history of musical collaborations including artists such as Aretha Franklin, Wynton Marsalis, Lou Reed, World Saxophone Quartet, Dee Dee Bridgewater. Kathleen Battle, Lester Bowie and Poncho Sanchez.
This phenomenal show is rounded-out with seasoned and newcomer talents of the continued Philadelphia musical tradition including George Burton on Piano, newcomer Justin Faulkner on drums and veteran musician, Lee Smith on bass.
“Pianist George Burton...was superb, anchoring the band in a straight-but-not- straight style reminiscent of McCoy Tyner... seems destined to great things—and soon.” - JazzTimes
"George Burton, a charismatic young pianist from Philadelphia, isn’t as well known as he should be.” - NY Times.
"James Carter has cemented his reputation as one of the most adventurous, visionary young reed players on the cusp of this new millennium.... Not as an outsider, but as one of the most exciting young virtuosos in contemporary music...."
